The day started with champagne sailing conditions with a SE F4-5, and sunny spells, challenging for some novice helms in the morning race, but ideal for an afternoon round the lake race, so that’s where the fleets were sent.
Bass GP sailors AJ and Sue should be aware of the anchor warp behind the committee boat, but it didn’t stop them catching their centreboard on it. Was it karma that caused them to capsize minutes later, or a crew reluctant to sail half way down the lake?
A challenging four mile beat down the lake for the faster fleets with exhilarating reaches back. Perhaps this aircraft was too quick as a lead boat?
